Garden centers and plant nurseries sell annuals, perennials, shrubs, trees, vegetables and houseplants, along with soil, mulch, fertilizer, pots and tools. Independent nurseries often grow part of their own stock and carry varieties that do well in the local climate, while big-box garden departments compete on price for common plants. Wholesale nurseries and growers sell to landscapers and sometimes to the public at volume prices; tree nurseries sell balled-and-burlapped and container trees and can deliver and plant large specimens. Specialty growers focus on bonsai, cactus and succulents, orchids or native plants, and hydroponics stores sell lights, nutrients and systems for growing indoors.

Greensboro is in North Carolina, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. Getting around Greensboro is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across North Carolina's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

This was my first visit to The Big Greenhouse. I was blown away by the wide selection of plants and extremely fair prices! I left with several new plants! I canβt wait to come back! πͺ΄π

Found the plant I had been looking for and a couple more to add to my collection. Lovely plants in the greenhouse. The greenhouse is βbigβ however getting to it was not easy. First the outside path to the door from the ramp at the right is basically blocked by tall trimmed bushes. The curb is very high and with a stroller difficult to manoeuvre. Once inside the door we had to choose our path very carefully because the store is overpacked with curiosities, collectibles, antiques, overflowing tables and lots and lots of things on the floor. Once we found our way to the back and the greenhouse we needed to navigate ginormous steps down to the greenhouse level. Pathways there were tight but mostly doable. There are a lot of things here and I truly love the plants. I knew the founding owner well from when he made his first deliveries at Humana decades ago. Quality plants for sure but please make the pathways wider and the entrances and exits easier.

This place is simply amazing! There is so much to choose from. I like how they have a lot of the basics plus some extra options of the same types of plants, especially ones that aren't found in regular plant shops. Their plants are well cared for and nothing was dry. The prices are reasonable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I love out if town by about 2hrs but will absolutely be making a return trip.

Thank you for your professionalism. Pat and Larry were so helpful and kind. The work they do for me is artistic and beautiful. Over the many years of doing business with them, I can depend on their guidance in making my home and gardens look wonderful. I will definitely recommend them to family and friends. I look forward to many future collaborations with βPlants and Answers/ The Big Greenhouseβ.

I had such a fabulous experience buying some more succulents for my collection. Really helpful employees so much so that I was compelled to write this review. Nate helped me so much in the greenhouse, I have no natural green thumb, he guided me to the most low maintenance ones. When I went inside an employee by the name Ash gave me extra tips on how to care for it and what plants would be best in my pre existing pots. I ended up buying too much but thatβs ok! I have a new sense of confidence now. The store was also well maintained and very clean! I will be back !
